Customs

Guests arriving from outside of Canada must have proper identification to clear Canada Customs. On June 1, 2009, a new law known as the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) came into effect. It requires U.S. citizens 16 years of age or over who re-enter the United States by land and sea to have a passport or other appropriate secure document like a NEXUS card. This requirement already exists for people travelling by air. Please make sure your documents are in order before you travel.

Times have changed a bit since the 1960s and 70s and you may be surprised to learn what constitutes a criminal record. Please be aware that individuals with any kind of criminal record (no matter how old) may not be allowed to enter Canada.

If you have any questions or concerns you may contact Canada Customs at 1-800-461-9999 (within Canada) or 1-204-983-3500 (outside Canada) or visit the Canada Customs web site. On your return trip home, it is vital to keep your BC fishing licence with you as you may be asked to produce it by Customs or the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
