First Tyee of the Season!

Robyn Bertrand - Monday, July 25, 2011
Congratulations to Grant McKinney who caught our season's first Tyee salmon at a whopping 55lbs!

Taking a chance on the untested Head fishery paid off for these anglers who brought in a total of four salmon to the dock by lunch on July 23rd - their first full day of fishing. Two Tyees and two "Try-ees" opened up our season with a bang and are a good indication of what we can expect in the months to come!

Good Hope Cannery Reunion

Robyn Bertrand - Friday, July 22, 2011
This year, to celebrate the restoration of the Cannery and the release of our Good Hope history book, we ran a special "reunion trip" from July 18-22. We invited people who had been connected with the Cannery over the past 116 years. We had several different people who spent their childhoods at Good Hope (from the 1940s to the 1990s), as well as former owners, fishermen, and caretakers. Two of our special guests, Rosemary and Gerry Miller, met at Good Hope, raised their children on site, and just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.

It was an emotional and special trip - a "coming home" for so many who have made Good Hope an important part of their lives. What a great opening for the 2011 season.

Thank you to all of our guests for attending this trip - Good Hope would not be what it is today if it wasn't for the unique contributions of each person involved in its history. Welcome home!
